Mt. Cook Alpine Salmon becomes the first private member of the Mackenzie Sustainable Futures Trust - Mt. Cook Alpine Salmon has announced it will become the first private supporter of the MackenzieSustainable Futures Trust. The company chairman, Jim Bolger, made the announcement over the weekend.

In November Mt. Cook Alpine Salmon sponsored the 26th Annual Oceans Benefit Gala in San Diego. The event showcases sustainable seafood from restaurants, chefs and businesses. We served Alpine salmon two ways, Lapsang steamed on Choi Sum greens and Tequila Gravlax with a spot of cremfresh and a lemon zest, with two chefs from the Catamaran restaurant. The International Zephyr Zodiac Convention was held in Twizel over Easter. Hundreds of classic Zephyrs converged on the Mt. Cook Alpine Salmon farm, to relax, take in the views, and sample some of the local delicacy of fresh Alpine Salmon sashimi.

CEO Geoff Matthews announced that the Mackenzie Basin should be home to a $100 million-a-year salmon farming industry and announces former prime minister Jim Bolger as the new chairman of Mt. Cook Alpine Salmon in this article published in the Sunday Star Times.

Mt. Cook Alpine Salmon has sponsored a number of community and charitable events in the past few months including:
The Ben Ohau Golf Classic tournament in Twizel.

The Great Guide Dog Online Auction, a fundraising collaboration between the Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind’s Guide Dog Services and real estate agency Bayleys.
We donated a dinner for four people cooked by All Black turned restaurateur Grahame Thorne which will be screened on his show Thorney’s Cooking Central.
The Japanese Earthquake appeals in Tekapo and in Queenstown. We donated salmon to be used as raffle prizes and to be served at the event’s dinners.

The Cuisine Restaurant of the Year Awards, donating salmon to be served at the awards lunch. Mt. Cook Alpine Salmon has supplied the overall winner Riverstone Kitchen for over three years.

The Motatapu event. For the second year running Mt. Cook Alpine Salmon were proud to be a category sponsor for the 42.2km marathon which saw 650 keen athletes line up to take on the challenge through the magnificent landscape of the Motatapu valley.

Mt. Cook Alpine Salmon lent their support to the Kelland Pond Kids Fishing Day, hosted by Central South Island Fish and Game and held on the Tekapo Canal. Over 350 children attended the day and around 120 salmon were caught, with many children catching their first ever fish.
